Dave made an appointment for one of his cats, Toki, to get neutered Monday. But since he works pretty much from sun up to sun down, I was going to take care of him post-surgery. Biggs and Toki come over every Friday night anyways, so when Biggs went home Toki stayed. I took Toki to the clinic at about 6am Monday morning for his exam and drop-off. He was quite a nervous wreck. I always feel so bad leaving them there.
Usually pick-up is between 4 and 5.30 the same day, but I got a call from the clinic at 2 saying Toki was out of surgery and was doing well enough that I could pick him up anytime. Needless to say I wasted no time and picked up the little guy right away. The combination of the anesthesia and pain medication injection has a bit of a scary effect on kitties. All my cats previous to Toki have been little psychos the day after surgery. They growl and howl for no reason, they have very limited vision and as a result they are afraid of everything. Toki has such a loving and happy personality that he was trying to play even under the effects of all the medicine.
The next day he was almost back to his normal self. Yesterday he was completely worn off the medicine and I took him back to Dave’s apartment a little sooner than I’d hoped to. It’s fun having him here with me. And with Ozzie always going outside it’s pretty much just Isabelle and I that run the house. I might be finding a home for Ozzie soon. He’s just not happy having to wait for me to let him in and out. He needs a house with a pet door.
